Piraeus: is located just 10kms southwest of the city and is home to Athens’ major port as well as a busy flea market held on Sundays. Visitors can indulge in fresh seafood at one of the plentiful seafood restaurants on Akti Themistokleous street. If you have time, a visit to the Piraeus Archaeological Museum, documenting the port’s 2,500-year old history, is fascinating.
Poros: is a stunning island, just 45 minutes from Piraeus on one of the frequent ferry services that serve the island. Poros is home to lush pine forests, golden cafe-lined beaches, excellent restaurants and top-class hotels.
Angistri: is a small island near Aegina with stunning sandy beaches and some impressive local restaurants. The far side of the island is mostly agricultural with communities focused around farming and fishing.
Saronic Island Cruise: cruises are available to take you around Athens’ islands. One-day cruises stop at all of the islands and you are free to wander around the islands at your leisure, providing you are back in time for the boat’s departure!
