Introduction to Zakynthos - Kalamaki
Zakynthos is a popular Mediterranean island that provides yet another excellent Greek holiday destination. The third biggest of the islands in the Ionian Sea and located just off Greece’s west coast, it provides a nice compromise between the party destinations of Ios and Kos, and the family-oriented islands of Rhodes and Crete. The hotels in Zakynthos in the resort town of Kalamaki Town are ideally located for visitors arriving by air at the small airport just to the north. This resort is much calmer than its neighbour, Laganas, and is part of a national marine park set up to protect the sea turtles that nest here. The island enjoys strong ferry links to Kyllini on the mainland, as well as services to other islands. It is easy to visit the beautiful beach at Kalamaki Town, as well as the many nearby historical and natural highlights.
