Introduction to Saronic Islands - Askeli Beach
Soft white sand, calm glassy water and plenty of fun on hand are jus three of the reasons why so many travellers love to return year after year to Askeli Beach. This is the largest and most popular beach on Poros Island, one of the stars of Greece's Saronic Islands. There are nine other beaches on Poros, but nearly all of the action happens here. A great selection of bars and restaurants are on hand just off the sand, many of which are located within the Askeli Beach hotels and resorts that line this sweeping bay. This is exclusively a tourist destination, though, so don't expect anything much in the way of traditional Greek village life. The focus here is on the beach, the sea and the nightlife. All kinds of water sports are available in connection with the many resorts along the beach. A convenient shuttle bus runs right from Askeli Beach to larger Poros Town just a few minutes away, where visitors will find a much more diverse range of amenities.
