Introduction to Samos - Aghios Konstantinos
Aghios Konstantinos is a small village and holiday destination on the northern coast of the Greek island of Samos. This is a pretty community, with stone buildings ranged along the seafront for almost a kilometre. Although the village has its own beach, it is mostly stones. Superior beaches can be reached within minutes by car, however. The island's two ferry ports are roughly equidistant from the village. Karlovasi takes about 20 minutes to reach, while Samos town is about 10 minutes farther away. Potami Beach, about 10 minutes to the east, offers a long pebble stretch of shoreline. The real attraction, however, is the chance to enjoy a scenic two-mile walk through forests to a small lake and beautiful waterfalls. The old capital of Pythagoreion takes about 30 minutes to reach by car and offers history buffs the chance to explore the Tunnel of Eupalinos. Seven kilometres to the west of Pythagoreion is the Temple of Hera which, along with the nearby city, forms an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Aghios Konstantinos hotels come in many varieties.
