Introduction to Olympia, Greece
Known as the original site of what we now know as the Olympic Games, Olympia is an ancient city of Greece located in the district of Elis. Olympia is not a town, but a sanctuary designed for worshipping the Gods. In current times visitors from all over the world visit Olympia for a glimpse into its ancient history and traditions. While there aren’t an extremely large amount of hotels in Olympia, there is a suitable amount for quick stays through the city. Apart from booking hotels in Olympia in advance, it is best to map out a sightseeing itinerary before hand. The Temple of Zeus was dedicated to the God of Gods while the Haraeum was dedicated to his wife Hera. Just outside the Altis is the Hippodrome and Stadium. The Archaeological Museum of Olympia reveals the history of the sanctuary and how the games were born. Olympia hotels compliment an exploration trip through the ancient land.
