Introduction to Naxos - Apollon
Ancient Greece meets modern beach holiday splendor at the traditional seaside village of Apollon on the island of Naxos. It's just a small beach, but it is quiet and relaxing, with just enough tavernas, bars and cafes to make for a wonderful beach holiday in the Cyclades. One of the historic highlights here is a large statue of Kouros dating to the 6th century BC. The village itself is tiny but contains all the classic images of whitewashed Greek islands that visitors come to see. Apollon hotels can be found facing the beach or up the hill tucked away in the streets of the village. Everything is within walking distance of the sand, so there's no need to worry about transportation. The square is the heart of the village, and the place where most of the traditional shops and little restaurants are located. While certainly a tourist destination, there is still an authentic Greek fishing village atmosphere that is firmly entrenched.
