Introduction to Lefkada - Nikiana
A floating bridge and causeway connect the Greek island of Lefkada to the mainland. One of the most relaxing and quiet harbours here is the village of Nikiana, situated nine kilometres south of the town of Lefkas along a scenic coastal road. Many of the more luxurious Nikiana hotels feature their own spas, and virtually all are near at least one of the many pebbled beaches filled with clean waters. While enjoying meals and drinks at the many bars, tavernas, and restaurants, visitors can usually hear live musicians perform traditional Greek music. The green mountain called Skaros which dominates Nikiana's landscape transforms to red when the sun sets on the village each night. Visitors can trek through foothills covered in cypress and olive trees to reach Skaros and its surrounding mountains. Mainland Greece can easily be seen from the harbour, where boats come and go as local fishermen unload their catches of the day.
