Introduction to Kefalonia - Lassi
None of the numerous resorts on the Greek island of Kefalonia are as large or as close to Kefalonia's capital of Argostoli as Lassi. It takes no more than half an hour for most visitors to walk from Argostoli to the resort, and Lassi hotels rank among the biggest and most luxurious on Kefalonia. Disabled or old visitors, however, may have difficulty making the steep uphill climbs leading to many of the resort's establishments. The two biggest beaches in Lassi are Platis Yialos and Makris Yialos, whose respective names translate to wide sandy beach and long sandy beach. Platis Yialos, in particular, is especially renowned for its cleanliness. Both of the beaches, however, can become crowded, especially between June and September, Kefalonia's busiest tourist season. Quieter alternatives can be found at Kalamia Bay, the sea caves at Gradakia Beach and at several other sandy coves throughout Lassi. Once the sun sets, locals enjoy serenading visitors with traditional mandolin and guitar music as they enjoy the resort's many places to drink, eat or dance the night away.
