Introduction to Cyclades - Milos

Its claims to the oldest settlement in the Cyclades would appear warranted given the depth of ancient attractions and heritage apparent on Milos. Simply put, this is a cool island and travellers who want to experience a corner of Greece that doesn't suffer from marauding hordes of tourists will find loads of nature and culture here. Stop by the island's Archaeological Museum in Plaka to admire the artistry of this ancient civilization before heading to the port town of Adamas to see how a natural harbour has been created from a volcanic caldera. There are a dozen stunning beaches on Milos to choose from, like Agia Kiriaki, and a selection of sea caves that are simply magical. The capital, Plaka, is great to explore, with its whitewashed buildings and comprehensive amenities, but Polonia is arguably the best place to stay thanks to its Milos hotels and beachside resorts. Besides a wonderful beach, Polonia is just a stone's throw away from the ruins of the important Minoan city of Phylakope.
