Introduction to Crete - Bali
The resort of Bali on the Greek island of Crete was not named after its more famous Indonesian counterpart, but for the Turkish word for 'honey,' which was once its biggest claim to fame. Nowadays, this resort situated between Heraklion and Rethymnon is best known for its breathtaking location in the middle of a small cove, with Mount Kouloukonas as a magnificent backdrop. While some Bali hotels are located close to its main beach in the heart of the village, others are much further from the waterfront. The main beach contains a mixture of pebbles and fine sand, but most of the coves close to the village also boast their own tranquil beaches. Paradise Beach is the most popular cove among swimmers, but another cove contains the most shops, tavernas, and cafes.
