Introduction to Corfu - Corfu Town
The Greek island of Corfu is the northernmost and second biggest of the Ionian Islands. It lies off Greece’s northwest coast, by the border with Albania. Though many travellers head to Corfu hotels to enjoy the destination’s sun, sand and sea, the island has a rich history that is also of interest. Reaching hotels in Corfu is easy enough, thanks to the many ferries that cross from the Greek mainland, from Italy and from other ports. The island’s airport is very easy to reach from Corfu hotels. Travelling in the main city and around the island is easy and cheap, thanks to the buses and taxis that are plentiful and convenient. In addition to the island’s beaches, many tourists are keen to enjoy the sights such as the well and waterfalls at Nymphes, the traditional village of Kynopiastes and the palace of Achilleion. From Corfu, the quiet beaches on the island’s east coast and the sandier beaches in the west are all easy to reach.Visit our Corfu Travel Guide
