Introduction to Athens - Piraeus
Piraeus is the name of the ancient area in Athens. The port area of Piraeus is still in use today and is a popular place for tourists to come given the abundance of restaurants and Athens hotels located in the area. There are some excellent seafood restaurants in Piraeus, many of which have beautiful al fresco dining areas where you can sit outside in the evening and enjoy the fresh sea breeze and stunning views of the port area. One of the most beautiful parts of the Athens Piraeus area to stay is Akti Tzelepi. The Athens hotels on this road that stretches along the main pier area have the best views of any hotel in Athens, and they also sit nearby the Peloponnisou Piraeus railway station. Some less expensive Athens hotels are found just a bit further back from the main pier, in the area around Leoforos Vasileous Georgiou Protou.
