Larisis, which is often spelled Larissis, is the name of the largest railway station in the Greek capital of Athens. Other names for this bustling rail station include Athens Central Railway Station and the Greek name of Stathmos Larissis, and a metro station by the same name is situated nearby. There are Larisis hotels to suit all budgets and they are especially popular with Athens tourists because they are so conveniently located in the northern portion of Athens city centre. Although visitors wishing to travel to the Peloponnese peninsula must venture one extra kilometre to the Peloponnese Railway Station, those planning to venture to Alexandroupoli, Thessaloniki, and other major cities in mainland Greece can easily do so aboard trains departing from the rail station. Trains also regularly leave for Macedonia and the Bulgarian capital of Sofia.
