Part of the Kypseli neighbourhood, Amerikis Square in the Greek capital's northeast offers easy access to the district's parks, cafe-lined streets and Art Deco and Bauhaus apartments. This affluent area of Athens is the perfect base for shoppers, with its comfortable Amerikis Square hotels and numerous shopping streets leading off from the square. The pedestrianised Fokionos Negri Street is perhaps the best shopping street in the area and offers a lovely green spot that runs along its length. Additionally, there are dozens of sidewalk cafes at which shoppers can recharge their batteries. A further oasis can be found at nearby Pedion Areos, while Patission Street offers a less busy alternative for shopping than Fokionos Negri. The nearest metro station to the square is Agios Nikolaos, a short taxi ride away.
