Introduction to Andros, Greece
The Greek island of Andros is only 1 hour, 30 minutes away from the vibrant city of Athens. The island has beautiful beaches, stunning mountain scenery and pretty Greek villages. There is plenty for visitors to do on the island, including diving, snorkelling fishing, hiking and sailing. The rugged coastline is popular for walking and the Messaria Valley has some of the island's prettiest villages. There plenty of places to stay on the island, and excellent Andros hotels are situated in all the island's main towns. Batsi and Gavrion are the most popular places to stay as they have excellent nightlife, music bars and restaurants. The island is famous for its delicious sausages and excellent wines. Batsi also has fine beaches and offers many water-sports activities. The island's capital, Chora, also has accommodation options as well as interesting museums and places to shop for souvenirs, jewellery and ceramics.
