Introduction to Gibraltar - City Centre

The British territory at the southern end of Spain known as Gibraltar is both a quirky travel destination and a crossing point between Europe and Africa. Its mix of Andalucian and British citizens creates a truly unique climate and a surprisingly fun place to spend a few days. The city centre of Gibraltar is tiny. A person can walk from one end of Main Street to the other in 15 minutes, but there's a lot to see in that short space. Grand Casemates Square is the focal point of the town, with Main Street running out from it. Most of the businesses are located on Main Street or just off it. The Cathedral of St Mary the Crowned is the architectural highlight of town, but the Gibraltar Museum is the place to begin learning about the unusual heritage of this rock. Take the cable car from town to Upper Rock for amazing views, and be sure to visit the Alameda Botanic Gardens at the edge of the town. There's no better place to stay than Gibraltar City Centre hotels, and though not cheap, they offer unbeatable location and atmosphere.
