With many historic buildings, an array of museums and a number of cosy bars and cafes located within a walking distance from the centre, Stuttgart is best explored on foot. If wandering around the city wears you out, Stuttgart has several excellent mineral baths to soothe your tired heels.
Old Palace (Altes Schloss): is a fine example of exquisite Renaissance architecture, built in the 10th century and regarded as one of the most beautiful palaces in Europe, the Palace is a must-see for tourists. Today, the Palace houses the Wurttembergisches Landesmuseum and Musical Instrument Museum as well as hosting theatre performances. The museum features a fascinating collection of art, jewels, weapons and the Crown Jewels.
Bohnenviertel: welcomes visitors to the oldest part of the city that dates back to the 14th century. A famous meet-up point for local winegrowers and craftsmen in the past, the area is now renowned for being a red light district. The area is also quite busy in the daytime when holidaymakers make their way to shop for designer brands at one of many trendy boutiques.
Staatsgalerie: is the most famous art gallery in the city, showcasing many interesting art pieces. The building itself is also remarkable, combining classical and modern elements that create such unique fusion styles.
