Alte Pinakothek: is Munich’s main art museum, a large, neo-classical building housing one of Europe’s most important collections. There are around 1,000 works of art on permanent exhibit here, including the works of the most renowned European artists of the 14th through to the 18th centuries. The museum’s highlights include works by Dutch and Flemish masters, as well as by the Italian artists Botticelli and Titian.

Bayerisches Nationalmuseum: the national museum of Bavaria was founded by King Maximilian II and in 1855, according to stipulations in his will; a building was constructed that now houses the museum for ethnology. Around 40 years later, a second building was completed for the purpose of housing an extensive collection of art and crafts, covering all eras of Bavarian history.

Museum Mensch und Natur: this museum of ‘man and nature’ follows the evolution of our planet, tracing what has occurred to the present and also what catastrophes might lie ahead unless we take better care of our environment.
There are exhibits featuring the work of Darwin and Mendel and one featuring speaking stones which describe their experiences from the time of their ‘birth’ over four billion years ago. In addition, there is a whole section of the museum devoted to eating.
