The airport is a located 20 miles from the city centre, which can easily be reached by car or public transport. The S-Bahn has direct connections to the Hauptbahnhof, with a journey time of about 40 minutes.
The airport’s two terminals have a common area in between, housing most of the shops and restaurants. Terminal 1 serves most non-Star Alliance airlines, with 68 airlines using this terminal and Terminal 2 handles all Star Alliance flights in its two halls (G and H), for a total of 26 airlines.

Transportation: Munich’s S-Bahn rail system provides service from the airport to the city on commuter trains S1 and S8, stopping at the Hauptbahnhof, Marienplatz, Laim and the Ostbahnhof. Service to the centre is also available on bus line S8, which operates from both terminals. Taxis from the airport take around 45 minutes for the drive to the centre and are readily available from in front of the arrivals hall.

Parking: five underground car parks at the airport provide short-term parking for stays of up to one week’s duration. Other options near the terminals include five multi-storey car parks and also the airport hotel’s underground car park. All parking facilities are directly connected to the airport terminals. Long-term parking is available a bit farther away at Nordallee, which offers weekly rates and a free shuttle bus service to the airport. Valet parking is also available.
