Hamburg Travel Guide - Nightlife
Just about every style is catered for, ensuring that Hamburg’s scene maintains its edge. The Reeperbahn in St Pauli and its red light district are the centre of Hamburg's famous nightlife and the club scene is also well represented in this area.
The entertainment highlight in Hamburg is its music and in fact some of the music venues are legendary. For example, Nobistor 24 in St Pauli is the lynchpin of the city’s clubbing scene and the musical diversity here is well-known across Europe.
Next door you’ll find the Star Club, which was Germany’s most important club in the 1960s; and also close by is Grosse Freiheit 36, which has hosted many rising pop and rock musicians since its opening in 1985, including David Bowie, Joe Cocker, Prince, Neil Young and ZZ Top. It’s been described by some as the best live music club in the world.
