Frankfurt Travel Guide - Things To Do

Frankfurter Stadtwald: is a great place to stretch your legs and enjoy a forested environment while still being in the city. A visit here provides a wonderful break from hectic city sightseeing, and is only a 10-minute tram ride away from Sachsenhausen. You can follow the paths that meander into the forest, either on foot, on horseback or on a bicycle.
This site provided inspiration for Gœethe’s writing and today visitors can seek inspiration on their own, while enjoying the ducks, the barbecue facilities, the adventure playground, the enormous beer garden and the panoramic views from the wooden tower.
There is an almost tangible sense of community here, recognised and celebrated by street festivals, vibrant markets and abundant cultural offerings. The summer festival in honour of the town's castle is particularly worthwhile.
Communications Museum: is a must-see if you’re visiting with children, as there are hands-on exhibits that will fascinate them; as well as invisible ink to experiment with and Cold War espionage equipment, which will bring out the secret agent in parents as well.
Sachsenhausen: is the perfect area for shopping and having lunch. South-bank Sachsenhausen is the closest you’ll find here to the 'old Germany'. It has tiny alleyways, rustic restaurants and rowdy taverns. If you cross the river by the Untermainbrucke, you'll find yourself on upmarket Schweitzer Strasse, that’s lined with boutiques, trendy bistros, specialty food shops, and wine bars.
