Dresden Travel Guide - Getting There
By air: Dresden’s Klotsche Airport provides good connections with the rest of the world. Once a military airport, the airport is fully-equipped with facilities for passengers including bars and restaurants, shops, bookstores, banks, bureaux de change, a post office and a first-class business centre. Traveling from the airport to the city centre is also convenient. Rail and bus networks are reliable while taxis are aplenty in front of the terminal.
By rail: getting to Dresden by train is a good way to arrive in the city. The Deutsche Bundesbahn line connects Dresden’s train station to other regional, national and international destinations. Those travelling from Berlin and Frankfurt will find it very convenient to use rail services as the trains leave for Dresden all day. The main stations in Dresden are Dresden Neustadt in Schlesischer Park and the Hauptbahnhof on Wiener Platz. Tram number 11 runs between these two stations.
By car: just like any town in Germany, Dresden is well-served by motorways. If you come from Berlin, take the A13 to get to Dresden while the A4 east leads from Poland. Euro tunnel provides a great link from UK. Driving from other parts of Europe is also possible via many routes.
