By air: flying to Cologne is very convenient and the most comfortable means of transport. A number of airlines offer flights that connect Cologne to other destinations in the world. The city is served by two airports, Koln-Bonn International Airport and Dusseldorf International Airport, although arriving at Koln-Bonn is much more convenient as it is only about 17kms south of central Cologne, while Dusseldorf International is 55kms away to the north.
Koln-Bonn International Airport is equipped with excellent facilities for passengers. Ground transportation links include taxis, airport buses and trains.
By bus: direct buses provided by Eurolines operate daily services from London Victoria to Cologne, with the journey taking about 12 hours. The trip can be quite exhausting but still bearable as Eurolines’ coaches are equipped with comfortable, reclining seats and large windows.
By car: just like any city in Germany, Cologne is well-linked to the rest of the country by the excellent autobahn network. It is connected to the north and the south by the A3 and the east and the west by the A4 as well as the A1, A57, A555 and A559. Driving from the UK, Cologne can be easily accessed through several routes via France, Belgium, Holland and Denmark.
