Cologne Travel Guide
Nightlife: with an array of clubs and bars across the city, nightlife in Cologne is fun and exciting. The main nightclubs are located close to the ring road, offering a great selection of drinks and featuring all kinds of music. If you want to mingle with trendy locals, visit Belgisches Viertel where clubs are open until early morning.
Show and performance: if you have some time to spare, head to the Cologne Arena (Kolnarena), the largest and the most modern events hall in the country. There are always big events going on including famous live concerts, TV shows, musicals and sport events. Music lovers should check out Cologne Concert Hall while more sophisticated performances can be found at the Kolner Cologne Opera House.
Eating out: is a treat in cologne as there are a number of excellent restaurants offering local cuisine. Dishes such as Flonz (blood sausages) or Hamchen (a bone serving of pork with sauerkraut) are very popular as is chicken fricassee. Don’t forget to ask for a glass of Kolsch beer, a fine-herb beer which is brewed only in the Cologne metropolitan area.
Walking/jogging: if you want to break away from the bustle of the city, visit one of many charming tree-lined Rhine promenades and Cologne’s several parks and gardens. Walk, jog or just relax and admire a wide range of trees and flowers, especially during the springtime.
