Introduction to Walldurn, Germany

Centuries ago a miracle is said to have happened in the small central German town of Walldurn. In the year 1330, a Catholic priest spilled the wine onto the corporal during Mass, which in turn formed an image of Christ on the cross. This relic has been preserved over the centuries and is still enshrined within the Church of St George in Walldurn. Each year, thousands of pilgrims travel to the church to witness this sacred object. Of course, there are many other interesting sites to see in this historic town. Walldurn boasts a pleasant downtown core with medieval buildings and plenty of shops, cafes and other businesses to explore. While most of the tourists here are Catholic pilgrims, travellers who wish to stay overnight will find plenty of hotels in Walldurn to choose from. Just on the outskirts of town the mountains begin to rise, providing trails to hike or bike and a handful of lakes and rivers to enjoy.
