Introduction to Neuzelle, Germany
The German municipality of Neuzelle lies in historic Lower Lusatia on the Polish border, and is famous both for its magnificent abbey and Kloster Brewery. The Cistercian monastery was founded in 1268, with its original Gothic abbey replaced after the Thirty Years' War by the spectacular Baroque structure still visible today. The small municipality has a population of fewer than 5,000, but receives a good number of year-round visitors to the abbey. The town encompasses six separate villages and is popular as a resort destination for its picturesque location and two nearby national parks set in beautiful river valleys. Of the six or so Neuzelle hotels, five are set in Neuzelle village itself, in attractive low-rise traditional-style buildings. A unique product of the famous local brewery is its 'anti-ageing beer', claimed to have added anti-oxidant ingredients including spirulina to aid the body's fight against free radicals. Other unusual products include cherry beer and 'energy beer'. other spellings: neuzellehotels, neuzele hotell, nuezelle otel, neuselle hote, neuzalle hotle
