Located in Bavaria, close to the River Isar, the municipality of Neufarn bei Freising and its 19,000 inhabitants are set some 20kms to the northeast of the world city of Munich, with efficient train services linking the two. Neufarn's area comprises a number of small towns and villages located on flat ground in the floodplain of the Isar River. Most of the district is agricultural and includes several protected areas such as Garching Heath and Echinger, with the ancient main town of the same name first documented in the 9th century and now including an industrial park within its boundaries. The municipality contains a small number of Neufarn hotels, several of which are set in picturesque heritage buildings. The neighbouring small villages are set in green, agricultural countryside and along the river banks, with picturesque little squares and ancient churches giving a view of traditional Bavarian life and the strong heritage of the region.
