Introduction to Munich - North Schwabing
Best known for being home to Europe’s biggest park, the English Garden, North Schwabing is a bohemian student district in the north of Munich. The English Garden (Englischer Garden) stretches from Munich’s city centre, running parallel to the Eisbach River. It is separated into northern and southern sections by the Mittlerer Ring, which is also a rough border between North and South Schwabing. The northern section of the park is much less crowded than the southern section, having an almost rural feel in many parts. The easiest way to explore the park is by bicycle. Visitors can rent a bike and explore themselves or even join an organised tour. On some of these tours, thirsty cyclists can stop off at one of the city’s most beautiful beer gardens, located in the far north of the park. The easiest way to reach North Schwabing hotels is by taking the U-Bahn from the city centre, alighting at Nordfriedhof or Alte Heide.Visit our Munich Travel Guide
