Introduction to Muenster, Germany
The distinctly Germany city of Muenster was first established in 793 as the site of a church and monastery on the River Aa, and offers an insight into the rich history and culture of the area. The city was extensively bombed during WWII and much of the old town, which has now been rebuilt, was destroyed. Visitors interested in Baroque architecture will find much to see here, including several churches and palaces, while the town clock tower boasts an original glockenspiel as well as animated wooden figurines which emerge from inside the tower to dance whenever the clock strikes. There are also many interesting museums, including the Pablo Picasso Museum of Graphic Art. One of the best times to visit Muenster is during the first week of April, when the vibrant Germanfest celebrations take place. Held to celebrate all aspects of German culture, this festival features plenty of drinking and dancing and people travel from all over Germany and beyond to join in the fun, meaning that visitors will want to secure their room in one of the leading Muenster hotels far in advance. other spellings: muensterhotels, meunster otel, meunster hotell, meunster hote, meunter hotle
