The small German city of Meckenheim lies just 20kms southwest of downtown Bonn, on the left bank of the River Rhine. Set right on the North Rhine-Westphalia border with Rhineland Palatinate, the city is surrounded by forests and apple orchards, and holds an attractive old town centre with a street entirely dedicated to shops selling local apples.
