Nature lovers often use the town of Marl as a base while exploring the surrounding area, as it is located conveniently close to a number of pretty nature reserves such as Braucksenke, Die Burg and Loemuhlenbachtal. Despite its small size, the town boasts a wide range of amenities for visitors, including an excellent selection of Marl hotels as well as plenty of shops, restaurants and bars to unwind in. While many people spend most of their time on the surrounding countryside, there are some interesting attractions in the town, such as the pretty church of St Georg. The bustling market place is a great place to shop for fresh produce, and to watch local life unfold; there are some excellent cafes surrounding the market square that provide a place to sit and sip a cup of coffee.
