Lenggries is a Bavarian town situated around 38 miles south of Munich. Travellers can get here by taking the Green Line train from Munich to its terminus in Lenggries. This line is operated by Bayerische Oberlandbahn (BOB). In the summer, much of the tourist activity here centres on hiking, especially in the beautiful forested areas nearby. However, there are also a few interesting places in the town centre. These include St James Church, noted for its Italian Baroque-style construction, and the Home Museum (Heimattmuseum) which tells the story of the town's history. The town sits against the backdrop of the 1,555-metre high Brauneck Mountain. During the winter months, Lenggries hotels are popular with skiers visiting the mountain. Skiers can reach the main skiing areas by using a series of lifts. Shoppers will enjoy the town's flea markets which take place on the second Saturday of each month. In addition, the town also hosts the obligatory Christmas Market each December as well as a fascinating medieval market festival (Falknerspektaculum).
