The rural district of Lauda-Konigshofen lies in the Main Tauber district of Baden Wuttemburg, on the River Tauber, just 30kms from Wurzburg.

The district itself contains 12 municipalities, ranging from little towns to tiny hamlets with less than 150 inhabitants, and is a pleasant area to visit.

Set in the beautiful Tauber Valley and with the Romantic Road running though its pretty streets, Lauda-Konigshofen has many picturesque sights and a number of heritage buildings surrounded by an agricultural landscape and woodlands.

The main town is Lauda, with its old town holding 16th century half-timbered homes and an attractive square overlooked by rolling hills, vineyards and wineries making delicious local wines, much enjoyed at the annual wine festival held in Lauda.

Several Lauda-Konigshofen hotels are found here, with bed and breakfasts and guest houses scattered around the nearby villages and hamlets.

The district is ancient, first mentioned in the 12th century but with Stone Age burial sites nearby.
