Introduction to Kulmbach, Germany
Kulmbach is a district capital in the Bavaria region of Germany. Like much of Bavaria, the city is well-known among locals for its excellent beer. However, this fact is much lesser-known among foreign tourists, leading some to call this city the Secret Capital of Beer. The city's beer festival takes place from the end of July through to the first weekend in August. Kulmbach hotels tend to fill up quickly at this time, so visitors coming to the festival should book well ahead. Alternatively, the city also hosts the Old Town Festival (Alstadtfest) on the first weekend in July. This lesser-known festival offers the same opportunities to sample the city's beer. Both festivals offer the chance to try the region's excellent fried sausages (bratwurst), too. At other times, most beer lovers head to the breweries. Kulmbacher Brewery is the biggest and hosts the Bavarian Brewery Museum. On the other hand, Kommunbrau Brewery offers a chance to see a smaller brewery in action. Most travellers get to the city by flying to Nuremburg Airport, around one hour's drive away from Kulmbach. other spellings: kulmbachhotels, culmbach otel, kulmbach hotell, kulmbech hote, kumbach hotes
