Kronberg im Taunus is a town of 17,600 people in central Germany's Hesse region. However, it is considered by some to be a suburb of Frankfurt. Therefore, guests can easily reach Kronberg im Taunus hotels by flying to Frankfurt and then taking an S-Bahn train to the town centre. The town has a number of historical attractions, including churches, castles and museums. In addition, it has its own zoo, Opelzoo, just a couple of miles to the west of the centre. Many of the historical places are near Steinstrasse, at the centre of the Old Town. Kronberg Castle is the oldest building in the town, well-known for its distinctive keep. It hosts a museum where visitors can learn much more about the town's ancient history. The Old Town also hosts Thaler Kerb, which is the biggest street festival in Kronberg im Taunus, held the first weekend in July. The annual flea market is part of the festival, while there are other excellent opportunities for shopping throughout the year, such as at the annual Christmas Markets.
