Introduction to Kassel - City Centre
Kassel is a large town in the northern part of Hesse, Germany. During WWII, bombing raids hits 90 per cent of the city’s central area. This has, however, led to a modern and vibrant city growing out of the rubble. Hotels in Kassel reflect this, mostly set in modern designer buildings. It is relatively easy to find a hotel in Kassel city centre, as it has a very strong commercial centre. One monument that survived the war, the oldest monument of the city, is Druselturm. This truly beautiful monument attracts many tourists, especially in the evening when it is lit up. The monument is easily accessed from Kassel hotels, as there is a very good tram and train system. The palace of Orangerie was built in 1710, a great day out due to the surrounding park and the planetarium that is provided within the grounds.
