Huckelhoven is a town in the west of Germany, 12 miles from the city of Monchengladbach and just a short drive from the Netherlands border. The easiest way to get here is by road as the A46 Heinsberg-Dusseldorf motorway passes close to the town. Dusseldorf, 40 miles away, also has the nearest airport to Huckelhoven. Much of the local economy is based on the coal industry, but there are a few museums and outdoor places that may interest any tourists passing through. For example, those interested in learning more about the town's mining history can visit Besucherbergwerk. Alternatively, other local industries are celebrated at the Basket Museum and the Automobile Museum. The latter has exhibits which date back at least 50 years, such as its restored Opel vehicles. To the east of the town, on the other side of the A46, outdoor enthusiasts can visit Adolfsee Ratheim. This is a scenic lake with a range of outdoor activities, just a few minutes drive from the town centre. Most Huckelhoven hotels are centrally located with easy access to shops, restaurants and other amenities.
