Introduction to Hohen Neuendorf, Germany
A town in Germany's Brandenburg, Hohen Neuendorf is often considered a suburb of Berlin, to the southeast. In fact, the Berlin suburb of Frohnau borders the town to the south. The town itself is comprised of four districts: Stolpe, Bergfelde, Hohen Neuendorf and Borgsdorf, with the River Havel gently meandering through the area. The town developed from a small village into the large community it is today with the arrival of the railway in the late 1800s. Today S-Bahn trains run from a new railway station to Berlin, with the old station having been transformed into a hotel. Prior to 1990, the town was bordered to the south by the Berlin Wall, dividing it from West Berlin. The district of Stolpe was the location of a border crossing into East Germany. With the unification of Germany, visitors can now explore Hohen Neuendorf in its entirety without having to concern themselves with border checks. A handful of Hohen Neuendorf hotels are on hand for those seeking a quiet base outside of Berlin. other spellings: hohen neuendorfhotels, hohen nueendorf hotell, hohen neuendrof otel, hohen neuemdorf hote
