Introduction to Heiligendamm, Germany
Considered to be the oldest coastal spa-town in Germany, Heiligendamm is a popular Baltic destination with those who like a little bit of luxury. The former US president, George W Bush, stayed here in 2006. The town is well-known for its pristine white buildings which line the seashore. The town comes under the administration of nearby Bad Doberan, where a narrow-gauge steam train known as the Molli departs regularly for the coastline. Alternatively, guests can drive here by taking the A20 (Baltic Coast Motorway). The beach is the town's main attraction; there is a 200-yard long pier that leads out into the Baltic. Those who walk to the end of the pier are rewarded with breathtaking views of the resort as well as the rest of the Baltic coastline. However, guests also have the opportunity to enjoy the famous spa facilities. One of the best-known Heiligendamm hotels even has a historic bath house which dates back to the 17th century. Hotel restaurants cater to guests only, but there is one building at the east end of the promenade which caters to diners who are visiting for the day.other spellings: heiligendammhotels, heiligendam otel, heiligendumm hotell, hailigendam hote
