Introduction to Hameln, Germany
Hameln is a medieval town in the Lower Saxony region of northern Germany. Unsurprisingly, some of the main attractions in the town are historic buildings and ancient streets. However, the town is most famous as the setting for a legendary folk tale, the Pied Piper of Hamelin. During the summer months, actors perform the tale on Sundays in the historic town centre. This famous tale now ensures that at least two and a half million people visit the town each year. Other theatrical events are hosted by Theatre Hameln, such as operas, concerts and cabarets. Many of the town's buildings were built in a Renaissance style during the 1500s and 1600s. Some of these half-timbered and stone buildings now house Hameln hotels. Visitors who prefer Gothic-style architecture should visit the Cathedral Church of St Boniface instead, which underwent restoration in the 1870s. Travellers can get to the town by taking an S-Bahn train from Hannover or by driving here via the B217.other spellings: hamelnhotels, hamaln otel, hotellin hameln, hamaln hote, hameln hotes, hameln
