Introduction to Hamburg - Stellingen
The Hamburg district of Stellingen lies close to the vast city’s northern borders, a distance from its central commercial and business hub. Owned by Denmark until the early 18th century, it was a rural farming area until industrial activity began in the 19th century. The district was heavily bombed during WWII. Nowadays, it is a dormitory town for those working in the city centre. Architecturally, the area has little to see, although the early 20th century Town Hall is of interest. Stellingen hotels offer comfortable accommodation away from the bustle of the big city. Hagenbeck Animal Park Zoo and Aquarium is a well-known attraction in the district, particularly among visiting families. Stellingen is just seven kilometres from Hamburg’s central districts and is popular with summer campers for its well-equipped sites set in pretty surroundings. The U-Bahn subway system runs to the zoo and city buses cover the area.Visit our Hamburg Travel Guide
