Gutersloh in North Rhine-Westphalia boasts one of Germany's prettiest parks. Stadtpark und Botanischer Garten Gutersloh offers botanical gardens and a boating lake among other attractions. Mohns is another prominent park in the town that features a massive amphitheatre which seats 1,000 people. Two rivers, the Ems and the Dalke, pass through the town, which is known for its 17th century half-timbered buildings around Old Church Square. The best shopping and Gutersloh hotels are situated in the town centre, which is circled by a ring road. The locals love to swim, evidenced by the town's four public swimming pools. Eateries dot the shopping zone around King Street and Berlin Street, with most meals complemented by the region's delicious pumpernickel bread. Entertainment in Gutersloh is low-key but there are beer gardens and one or two nightclubs at which to pass an evening sipping on the local Pilsner beer.
