The Bavarian district capital of Gunzburg sits at the point where the Danube River is joined by the Gunz River. The town has enough attractions within its well-preserved Old Town to warrant a stay in Gunzburg hotels, from the 18th century Rococo style Frauenkirche church (Church of Our Lady) to Germany's only Habsburg castle, constructed in the 16th century. The greatest draw for families, however, is the nearby LEGOLAND Germany theme park, divided into seven action-packed areas. At the centre of the Old Town is the pretty market place, lined with half-timbered buildings which today house eateries. Nearby, Guntia - Stadttheater hosts opera, theatre and musical performances year round, as does the Orion Luxor. A number of historical monasteries dot the town, including Kapuzinerkloster, Kloster Herz Jesu and Kloster SS. Trinitatis. On the town's outskirts are opportunities to enjoy waterskiing and wakeboarding as well as to cycle along the Danube Bikeway.
