Introduction to Goslar, Germany
Goslar is an ancient town, with many interesting sites located in central Germany. It is in the Lower Saxony region of the country at the base of the Harz Mountains. Goslar’s old quarter, the Alt Stadt, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Around the Alt Stadt there is a good selection of Goslar hotels. Several of these central Goslar hotels are housed in attractive historic buildings. In the Alt Stadt there are numerous charming cafes, restaurants, shops and smaller B&B style Goslar hotels. The splendid medieval Imperial Palace on the Kaiserpfalz holds one of several museums in the town. On the Harz Mountains are the preserved historic Mines of Rammelsberg, now run as an operational museum. In summer, Goslar hotels get quite busy as visitors arrive to partake in the area’s sports activities. Popular activities are hiking, rock climbing and cross country cycling.
