Introduction to Garmisch Partenk. - City Centre
The many hotels in Garmisch Partenk make it easy to enjoy the delights of this popular Bavarian resort town. Here in southern Germany, the beautiful town spreads across a scenic valley, with snow-capped mountains as a backdrop. Zugspitze, the tallest mountain in Germany, can easily be seen from the town. Hotels in Garmisch Partenk are also well located for visits to nearby Austria. The town has a long history, having been established under the Romans. There is no local airport but road links are excellent. The drive from Munich, mostly on an excellent and very scenic Autobahn can take less than an hour. In busy periods, however, it can take up to three hours. Trains from the local train station, which is very easy to reach from hotels in Garmisch Partenk, reach Munich in 60 minutes. The town has some fine shopping and excellent dining but the outdoors is the star here.
