Introduction to Friedrichshafen, Germany
Friedrichshafen is on the northern shore of Lake Constance in southern Germany. The German Swiss border runs down the middle of the lake. Friedrichshafen is linked by ferry to Romanshorn in Switzerland. Various other ferry services depart from Friedrichshafen’s port. Close to the port and alongside the lake there is a good choice of Friedrichshafen hotels. Among the Friedrichshafen hotels options are several four star establishments. Leading international hoteliers operate some of the lakeside hotels in Friedrichshafen. Lake Constance, surrounded by rolling mountains, has a number of islands in it with some of the ferry services provided by steamboats. Friedrichshafen is well connected, with frequent trains to Lindau and Switzerland, a good road network and an airport that has arrivals from all over Europe. The airport offers travellers links to the region’s ski resorts, with many skiers using hotels in Friedrichshafen as a base.
