Introduction to Feuchtwangen, Germany
Feuchtwangen is a city of around 12,000 people, located in the south of Germany. Part of the Bavaria region, the city offers a number of cultural and sightseeing opportunities, especially around its historic Old Town. There has been no rail service to the city since it was halted in 1985. However, there are some museum trains which run on occasion for the benefit of visitors and railway enthusiasts. In this case, guests must get here by car; the city is conveniently located near two motorways, autobahns A6 and A7. The town's marketplace is a good place to start exploring the city. This is where the Historic Town Festival (Altstadtfest) takes place in May, at a time when Feuchtwangen hotels can be busier than usual. Besides the marketplace, the old Benedictine monastery is the other main attraction. Within the Romanesque cloister, the craftsmen's workshops have been well-maintained. These workshops offer a great insight into the day-to-day lives of those who once worked in the monastery. Surrounding the Old Town, parts of the ancient walls dating back to the 1400s are still standing. Unfortunately, the Upper Gate is the only remaining gate from these ancient fortifications.other spellings: feuchtwangenhotels, fuchtwangen otel, fechtwangin hotell, feuchtwungen hote
