Introduction to Essen, Germany
Essen is a city in the Ruhr urban district of western Germany. Essen is on the River Ruhr and was a major coal mining and steel production centre. It is now a business service area and contains the headquarters offices of many national companies. Essen Central Railway Station (Hauptbahnof) is in the city centre and has a good selection of Essen hotels in its environs. Essen hotels range in standard from two to five stars.
