Introduction to Dusseldorf - Lorick & Heerdt
Lorick & Heerdt are two suburbs situated next to each other in the westernmost part of Dusseldorf, Germany. Lorick & Heerdt hotels, most of which are three- or four-star high-rise structures, are popular places for Dusseldorf visitors to stay because the neighbourhoods in which they are located are so peaceful and quiet. Both suburbs are located on the Rhine River's west side, directly opposite from Dusseldorf city centre, and were once separate communities in their own right. Nowadays, they are primarily residential and industrial areas, but Heerdt also contains major shopping facilities and stately villas. Heerdt is also the home of the brick Paul Gerhardt Church House, first built in 1929, and two stately Catholic churches. The neo-Gothic St Benediktus Church was built between 1844 and 1847, while the St Sacrament Church once served as a bunker and was reconstructed in 1948. Lorick's main attractions are an open-air bath and the Seestern skyscraper complex. Visit our Dusseldorf Travel Guide
