Dietzenbach is a town of around 33,000 people, located 14 miles south of Frankfurt, Germany. Travellers can get here from Frankfurt by taking an S2 tram to one of several stations in the town. The town is most well-known for its festivals and markets. Dietzenbach hotels tend to get most crowded when popular festivals take place. Beer drinkers might like to visit during the Festival of Beers (Fest der Biere), held at the Harmonieplatz and lasting for five days. Alternatively, wine lovers can enjoy the 10-day long Weinfest, held in the New Town Centre. The New Town Centre is home to the Rathaus-Centre, a state-of-the-art shopping facility which was built in 2007. However, those looking for independent retailers might like to visit the Old City Centre Market (Altstadtmarkt) instead. Here, traditional pieces of art are sold alongside more contemporary works by young local artists. The Old City centre also hosts the local history museum as well as a number of beautiful timber-frame houses. Another well-known market is the atmospheric Christmas Market (Weihnachtsmarkt), held annually on the first weekend in December.
